The Horizon Scanning programme continually identifies emerging diagnostic tools and technologies. The results of this successful programme feed into new studies in primary care or are forwarded to national funding bodies such as the HTA programme.

Companies developing potentially useful technology for primary care are invited to attend our regular industry meetings where they can present their new technology and discuss potential applications in primary care.

We can advise IVD companies on the evidence-base needed to support the adoption of their new technology in practice. We have expertise on study design, statistical analyses, qualitative studies, economic evaluations and modelling. In addition, we have excellent links with the Oxford Academic Health Science Network whose mission is to speed up uptake of research evidence and innovation in the NHS.

We work collaboratively with small and medium-sized enterprises to develop funded studies that further test and develop new technologies, providing an evidence-base for adoption. By collaborating, we aim to assist in developing clinically relevant technology, that has a higher chance of uptake and implementation in routine clinical practice.

The UK Diagnostics Forum brings together leading experts from the UK diagnostics industry, health economists and clinical diagnostic researchers. The meeting is supported by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), Innovate UK, the British In Vitro Diagnostics Association (BIVDA) and the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.
